These are my final pieces for my self portrait...i thought the sceneray one was too plain so i added my face to the sky... i took away the lightening as i think it draws the attention of the audience to much and makes the overall design look messy...
The central idea of this piece is to convey the sense of confusion and being lost. This is more of a “feeling” piece.
It can be objective wether the bottles are floating towards or away from the horizon.
If the audience sees the bottles floating towards the horizon, I am showing that I have many different personalities that I am just discovering and/or still discovering which is conveyed through the multiple bottles floating lost and randomly in the sea all in one direction towards my face in the sky.
If the audience sees the bottles floating away from the horizon, I am showing that all these bottles (has my face trapped within the bottles) represents little bits of myself. They are all leaving the sunlight (my face in the sky- representing me in general). The little images of myself in the bottles are what I thought I knew about myself but now I am discovering more about myself which makes it all very complicated and scary. The scary hand (in the left hand side) is reaching out to grab me and take me to a different way instead of leading me to where I want to go.
The colours I used are meant to create a type of unsettled sense of serenity (which is very ironic). The waves create a sense of chaos, uncomfort and tension which adds to the overall design of confusion. The red sky emphasises anger and discontentment with life. My vacant expression in the background just shows that through innocent looking eyes, everything is not as normal and simple as the exterior presents.

I like the effect the "invert" function gives... makes it look more...sterile
